چکیده
The inconsistency of the Indian monsoon has constantly threatened country’s food production, especially key crops such as rice. Crop planning measures based on rainfall patterns during rice-growing season can significantly improve sustainable water usage for water-intensive This study examines variability monsoonal in rainfed and irrigated rice-cultivating regions to utilization irrigation water-saving practices. Two distinct conditions southern peninsular India are chosen this study. preliminary seasonal analysis (1951–2015) showed anomalies Sadivayal (rainfed rice) region compared Karaikal (irrigated rice). dry-spell weekly classification suggested shifting sowing date earlier weeks Thaladi (September–February) Kar (May–September) avoid exposure stress Sadivayal. Harvesting excess rainwater wet is proposed a mitigation strategy vegetative stage Kuruvai (June–October) Late (October–February), where deficit expected. Results that an adaptation early most measure rice cultivation. However, harvesting ideal prevent deficient periods farming. comparative proposes comprehensive framework develop water-efficient cultivation practices changing patterns.

Development of an Empirical Model of Sustainable Rice Farming: A Case Study from Three Rice-Growing Ecosystems in Bangladesh
To facilitate sustainable agricultural development, this study developed a model of rice farming sustainability in Bangladesh and determined the key interventions for policy implementation. Data for the study were collected through a household survey and also via in-depth informal discussion with stakeholders. By constructing a composite indicator, path analysis results showed that major contri...

متن کاملBiodiversity and Complexity of Rice Farm Ecosystems: An Empirical Assessment
Modern rice farms are characterized by the use of synthetic agrochemicals, which eliminate a large segment of biodiversity on-farm. In contrast, organic rice farms tend to preserve much of natural biodiversity. While biodiversityproductivity relationship in organic vs. chemicalised rice farms is contested, the relationship of on-farm biodiversity with food web structural properties and ecosyste...
متن کاملGrowing Rice With Less Water
Effective and efficient irrigation practices are critical to successful rice production and to the sustainability of rice production. To better understand how to address the issue of water management in rice we initially installed water flow meters on two studies that were designed to evaluate disease incidence using fertility, variety/hybrid, and water management as treatment variables. One st...
